Reading
During the second, third and fourth quarters we will continue working with letter identification, letter sounds, rhyming, beginning sounds, sight words, and beginning spelling. We will also work on medial sounds, making words, word families and cues in books to help us learn new words. We will continue reading groups which will be differentiated according to student abilities. Reading groups will reinforce skills the students work on in class, and will allow students time for working with words, working on writing, listening to a story, reading leveled books independently, working on the computer at literacy sights, and working in small groups with me on guided reading lessons.
Math
During the second, third and fourth quarters we will be working on counting larger numbers, number identification, writing numbers, and counting groups of objects with one-to-one correspondence. We will also begin addition and subtraction, as well as geometry.
Social Studies

Social Studies will be taught thematically through writing, math and reading.
